The Knowingness
There are times in our lives when there is certainty. Certainty that we are without question, without doubt, exactly where we are supposed to be, doing what we were made to do. A knowingness occupies every cell in our bodies and a blanket of excitement, passion, and peace warms our bodies in an instant.
The place I have found that feeling repeatedly in my life is in the moments I am creating. When I get that shot, or complete a collage, it feels as though I am meeting this new version of Christina Adams and I feel closest to who I am meant to be.
This passion has led me to meet so many incredible people and has sent me onto a journey I am so grateful for. Following this passion has given me a sense of power within myself that I could have never imagined.
My Style
When photographing subjects and scenery I aim to capture different interacting elements. I find the interaction of sunlight, water, and skin captivating. Almost every photo I take is outside, I find every subject’s essence is most appealing and raw in natural light. Shadows on skin captivate me. Playing with shapes and contrasts of the shadows on a subjects body allows me to capture a unique perspective.
When I travel I love photographing organic scenes that include the nature of the place I’m in and the humans around it. Humans in nature is a huge part of my art.
In 2023 I had the opportunity to spend my summer as a trade work photographer for a surf resort in northwest Nicaragua. There I fell in love with surf photography, specifically taking photos from the same wave as the surfer. That kind of adrenaline/ pay off for a shot is one of my favorite feelings in the world.
When it comes to photographing the women I have had the privilege to meet, work with, and even call my friends, there’s a story I aim to create within each frame. There’s emotion I strive to uncover, and freeze. Creating with these beautiful women, seeing how vulnerable and comfortable they are in their skin, makes me feel beautiful in my own.
It’s something special to exist in a moment filled with emotion and connection between myself and whatever or whoever is on the other side of my camera. To be able to capture the moment and freeze it in time, documented forever...that’s a privilege. Documenting those moments from my point of view, from my eyes, sharing what I see and how I see it with other people is some kind of heaven on earth.
35mm Film & Digital
My arsenal consists of a couple 35mm bad boys, my trusty canon digital, and my Nikonos V for when I feel like getting pummeled by waves in the name of capturing some badass surfers.
